A clear investment thesis is only the beginning. The structure, the underwriting, and the ongoing oversight matter just as much.
Start with the business and its ability to repay.
Evaluate the expected capital cycle and exit.
Define investor economics in the governing terms.
Look beyond
the opportunity.

the details.
Our approach
We consider how capital will be used, how repayment is expected to occur, and what could change along the way.
Review operating cash flow, existing obligations, and the financing need.
Assess repayment terms, counterparties, contractual rights, and collateral where applicable.
Follow the position through its capital cycle and communicate material developments.
Private investments carry risk, including loss of principal. Short duration and collateral do not eliminate risk or ensure liquidity.

01 / Revenue-based financing
Private credit, viewed through the cash flow of operating businesses.
The strategy
Geneva's private credit approach focuses on revenue-based financing and selected short-duration credit opportunities. The business, its existing obligations, and the proposed repayment structure form the starting point for review.
Review the sources and consistency of revenue, the business's operating needs, and its capacity to meet payment obligations.
Consider the funding period, expected collection pattern, and the implications of repayment delays or refinancing needs.
Evaluate the transaction structure, applicable costs, investor economics, and risks under the relevant agreements.
Borrower performance can change. Defaults, collection delays, concentration, servicing issues, and limited liquidity may affect outcomes. Future repayments are not the same as cash received, and no return or preservation of capital is assured.
02 / Short-duration financing
Transitional capital, considered against a defined financing need.
The strategy
Geneva considers selected bridge-financing opportunities where capital serves a specific transitional purpose. Each opportunity is evaluated against its use of funds, proposed exit, supporting structure, and the risks to repayment.
Understand the funding gap, the transaction timetable, and why transitional financing is being considered.
Review the anticipated repayment or refinancing event, remaining conditions, and alternatives if the timetable changes.
Examine relevant agreements, lien position or collateral where applicable, counterparties, and available remedies.
Refinancing may be delayed or unavailable. Collateral values can change, enforcement can take time, and a secured position can still result in loss. Funding and repayment remain subject to transaction-specific conditions.
